About the Framework

Authority Before Automation

The Human Authority Architecture (HAA) is a structural governance framework that maps how human decision authority actually functions inside an organization — before AI is introduced, adopted, or scaled.

Most organizations adopt AI by starting with tools: what can we automate, what can we speed up, what can we delegate to a machine? HAA begins in a fundamentally different place. It begins with authority — who holds it, where it lives, where it is documented, and where it is fragile.

The framework operates on a foundational principle: if you do not know where human authority lives before you introduce AI, you cannot govern what happens after. AI does not create governance problems. It reveals the ones that already exist — and accelerates them.

HAA provides the governance and authority layer that organizations need when they are adopting AI faster than they can govern it. It is not an AI strategy. It is the structural prerequisite for any AI strategy that intends to keep human leadership intact.

SAS Doctrine

The Three Governance Pillars

Every HAA engagement is governed by the Stability of Systems, Authority of Humans, Stewardship of Intelligence (SAS) Doctrine — three pillars that define where human authority must be preserved, where systems must remain stable, and where intelligence must be stewarded rather than surrendered.

Stability of Systems — Governance infrastructure must be structurally sound before AI is introduced. Broken escalation paths, missing backup authority, and undocumented decision logic create systemic fragility that AI amplifies.
Authority of Humans — Decision authority must remain clearly owned by named human beings. AI may inform, draft, and analyze — but it may never hold final authority over consequential decisions.
Stewardship of Intelligence — Organizational knowledge, judgment, and institutional memory must be preserved, documented, and protected — not silently delegated to machines that cannot explain their reasoning.
